The Butler University Writers’ Studio offers free, 60-minute writing consultations at any stage of the writing process – from understanding an assignment to revising a final draft. Our undergraduate and graduate tutors will assist you with writing assignments across the curriculum.
For graduate students, the Writers’ Studio offers fully-online, synchronous or asynchronous appointments with graduate tutors. We strive for flexible hours to meet the needs of working adult learners.
From first-year students to doctoral students, the Peer Tutoring Program addresses the writing needs of Butler students across the curriculum at every stage of the writing process. The Writers’ Studio is a place where student writers can share ideas and shape their writing. From its inception, the Peer Tutoring Program has focused on creating an environment where writers can talk about their work. The Studio remains student-centered, less about materials and aids than the one-to-one experience of writing. No one pedagogy or learning philosophy dictates the day-to-day operation of Peer Tutoring. Each tutor’s goal is to recognize and accommodate the individual and often idiosyncratic nature of the writing process by meeting every student writer where they are.
